This course aims to give delegates a comprehensive understanding of how to safely and efficiently mount and use Abrasive Wheels. Course Aim •To identify typical Hazards •Demonstrate on understanding of a wheel marking system Identify appropriate wheel selection •Understand the relationship of the R.P.M.’s of both the machine & the wheel Functions of Guards and Tool nests Learning Outcomes and qualifications •After successful completion of this course the candidate will receive a Wheel Plant Training Certificate Course Content Health & Safety power point then a Theory Test Class of Wheels Information on the Wheel Operational Procedures Storing & Handling Changing and inspecting an abrasive wheel Summary Course Duration

Course Aim •Undergroud Services – Identification methods •Regulations with respect to Detecting & Tracing underground Services •Reasons for using locators •Hazards arising from the use of Cable Avoidance Tools & Signal Generators and precautions which should be observed •Identification of types & limitations of Cable Avoidance Tools & Signal Generators •Implications of damage, handling & transporting of equipment •Inspecting, calibration & testing of equipment •The methods of safe use of pipe & cable location equipment, along with basic locating techniques •Safe working practices •Practical session where each candidate will be instructed & assessed on their ability & competence in using the Cat & Genny in the local area Learning Outcomes and Qualification •Certificate of competence in using Cat & Genny once completing the course satisfactory •Certificates valid for 3 years Course Content •Safe systems of work when carrying out excavation work •Understanding the risk & implications of damaging underground services •H & S legislation relating to excavations & underground services •How to identify different types of service •Permits to dig •Utility service plans •Site observations •Understanding the principles of a Cable Avoidance Tool (Cat & Genny) •Operational modes of a Cat & Genny •How to use Cat & Genny •Site scanning practices & methods •Implications & actions of damaging a service The reason for using Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) & Genny •Basic principles of location & avoidance of Underground services •Reading & Understanding site plans •Use a Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) & Signal Generator (Genny) in P,R & G Modes •Appreciation of difficulties associated with underground service avoidance •Identify risks & hazard associated with underground service avoidance •Hazard avoidance •Storage & maintenance of equipment
